Company History

With thoughts toward the future, Randy Wayne Shelton recognized the ever-growing need of service to the natural gas industry, and in the fall of 1981 he created Independent Gas Leak Safety Surveyors. The company provided leak surveys, cathodic protection surveys, cathodic protection designs and installations on city owned and operated natural gas distribution systems and master meter gas systems.

In 1989 these services were available for gas transmission and gathering operators. In 1993 the company name was changed to R. W. Shelton Services, and when the Barnet Shale and Fayetteville Shale gas plays developed, the company once again expanded their services. Today, the company has incorporated and continues to expand and provide services to a customer base including Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Among the expanded services offered are class surveys, right-of-way patrol, odorant testing, and air vac services.

As the natural gas industry continues to evolve and regulations change, R.W. Shelton Services will be there on the cutting edge, providing quality, one of a kind service.
